The Stormcloaks are the rebel army of Ulfric Stormcloak, fighting to free Skyrim from the Empire. They are based in the Palace of the Kings in Windhelm and wear the blue of Eastmarch.
Why they fight
To the Stormcloaks, the Empire betrayed the Nords when it signed the White-Gold Concordat with the Thalmor and banned the worship of Talos. They want an independent Skyrim, ruled by Nords and free to worship whom they choose. Critics point to Ulfric’s ambition and to how the Stormcloaks treat non-Nords in Windhelm.
How to join
Go to the Palace of the Kings in Windhelm and talk to Galmar Stone-Fist, Ulfric’s right hand. Your first task is to kill an ice wraith to prove you are worthy (“Joining the Stormcloaks”).
