Angrenor Once-Honored is a Nord beggar living on the streets of Windhelm. He fought in the Great War as a footman and lost everything afterwards. Later he joined the Stormcloaks, but that career ended when a sword went through his chest.
Where to find them
Wandering the Gray Quarter or hanging around Candlehearth Hall. On your first visit to the city you will probably meet him right away: he and Rolff Stone-Fist are harassing Suvaris Atheron, with Angrenor accusing the Dark Elves of being Imperial spies.
Follower & marriage
Angrenor is the only beggar in the game who can be married. Give him a single gold coin, or let him keep a piece of clothing or armor you dropped, and he becomes a marriage candidate. Wear an Amulet of Mara, talk to him and he will ask if you are interested in him. Married or not, he will still ask you for gold. He cannot be recruited as a follower.
Personality & relationships
Angrenor loves telling war stories. He insists he was one of the best soldiers in the Stormcloak army, says he once killed six men alone to save his comrades from an Imperial ambush, and claims a cowardly Imperial stabbed him in the back. The wound left him short of breath, though, as he admits, it has not slowed his drinking at all.
He talks a lot of trash about Dark Elves, yet unlike Rolff he will not insult a Dunmer Dragonborn and is happy to marry one.
Good to know
- Give him one coin and he names you as a relative in his will. If he later dies, the Jarl sends you a condolence letter and an inheritance of 100 gold.
- After Innocence Lost he carries a key to the Aretino Residence.
- His tale of being stopped by a war wound is a wink at the guards’ famous arrow-to-the-knee line.
