The Battle for Fort Snowhawk in Skyrim: capture the fort west of Morthal and take Hjaalmarch. Stormcloaks earn the title Stormblade. Civil war walkthrough.

The Battle for Fort Snowhawk decides who holds Hjaalmarch. Which side you fight on depends on your allegiance: Stormcloaks attack an Imperial garrison, while Legion recruits only get this version if Hjaalmarch already belongs to the rebels (for example after a trade in Season Unending).

Walkthrough

For the Stormcloaks, the groundwork was laid in A False Front: the forged orders convinced the Imperial legate not to reinforce Snowhawk. Galmar Stone-Fist sends you to join the attack. On the Imperial side the orders come from Legate Rikke.

The fort sits just west of Morthal, across the river. Your side musters on a ridge above it; talk to the commander to launch the assault. Smash the barricades in front of the gate, rush the courtyard and clear the ramparts. You can win the whole battle outside without ever entering the fort’s interior.

Report back to your leader when the enemy is broken.

Reward

Leveled armor. Stormcloaks are also given the title of Stormblade.
