Ulfric’s Bracers are the arm guards worn by Ulfric Stormcloak, Jarl of Windhelm and leader of the Stormcloaks. They count as light gauntlets but carry no enchantment at all. Their main appeal is who wore them, not what they do.
How to get it
The only copy in the game is the one Ulfric wears. That leaves two routes:
- Take them from his body. If you side with the Empire in the civil war, the questline ends in the Battle for Windhelm, where Ulfric dies in his palace. Loot the bracers along with his other gear, such as Ulfric’s War Axe.
- Pickpocket them. A skilled pickpocket with the right perk can lift worn items from a living Ulfric, which is the only option for loyal Stormcloaks who would rather not kill their Jarl.
Is it worth wearing?
Honestly? Not for combat. An armor rating of 5 is low even for light gloves, and according to UESP the bracers cannot be improved at a workbench and do not benefit from Light Armor perks because they lack the usual armor keyword. They also weigh just 0.5 and are worth only 25 gold, so they are not much of a payday either.
They are best treated as a collector’s item or a roleplay piece for a Stormcloak loyalist who wants to dress like the Bear of Markarth. Pair them with the Stormcloak Armor for the full rebel look, and keep a real pair of gauntlets in your bag for actual fights.
Good to know
- On female characters they show up as slim armguards that are mostly hidden, apart from the bits over the backs of the hands (UESP).
- Only one pair exists, worn by Ulfric himself.
