The Dawnguard is an old order of vampire hunters brought back to life by Isran, a gruff Redguard who walked out on the Vigilants of Stendarr because they weren’t taking the vampire threat seriously enough. Their base, Fort Dawnguard, lies in a canyon in the Rift, not far from Riften.
How to join
With the Dawnguard add-on installed, you’ll hear guards and town criers mention that the Dawnguard is recruiting. Head to Fort Dawnguard and talk to Isran to start the questline. Along the way you meet Serana – and at the end of “Bloodline” you have to choose: stay with the Dawnguard or join the Volkihar Clan.
