Ectoplasm is the pearly, glowing residue left behind when a ghost is put to rest. It’s light, worth 25 gold, and carries Restore Magicka, Fortify Magicka and Fortify Destruction – a strong mix for any spellcaster. It’s also one of the few ingredients with a use at the forge.
Alchemy effects
The effects are listed in the order you discover them by eating the ingredient or using it in a potion. Two ingredients make a potion when they share at least one effect.
- Restore Magicka – instantly restores spent Magicka. Also on: Briar Heart, Creep Cluster, Dwarven Oil, Elves Ear, Fire Salts, Frost Salts, Giant Lichen, Grass Pod, Human Flesh, Moon Sugar, Mora Tapinella, Pearl, Red Mountain Flower, Taproot, Vampire Dust, White Cap.
- Fortify Destruction – makes your Destruction spells stronger for a while. Also on: Beehive Husk, Glow Dust, Glowing Mushroom, Nightshade, Wisp Wrappings.
- Fortify Magicka – raises your maximum Magicka for a while. Also on: Briar Heart, Histcarp, Jazbay Grapes, Red Mountain Flower, Tundra Cotton, Void Salts.
- Damage Health – a poison effect that deals instant damage to the target’s Health. Also on: Crimson Nirnroot, Deathbell, Falmer Ear, Human Flesh, Human Heart, Imp Stool, Jarrin Root, Nightshade, Nirnroot, Red Mountain Flower, River Betty, Skeever Tail, Small Antlers, Troll Fat, Void Salts.
Tips and trivia
Tempering the Ghostblade takes three Ectoplasm. In Dragonborn, the ghost Karstaag drops ten.
