Giant Lichen

A spongy swamp lichen from Hjaalmarch – mainly a poison ingredient with Restore Magicka.

Giant Lichen grows in the misty marshes between Solitude and Morthal. Three of its four effects are harmful – Weakness to Shock, Weakness to Poison and Ravage Health – which makes it a good base for poisons. Restore Magicka is the odd one out.

Alchemy effects

The effects are listed in the order you discover them by eating the ingredient or using it in a potion. Two ingredients make a potion when they share at least one effect.

  1. Weakness to Shock – a poison effect that makes the target take more shock damage. Also on: Bee, Hagraven Feathers, Void Salts.
  2. Ravage Health – a concentrated poison that lowers the target’s Health for a while. Also on: Cyrodilic Spadetail, Eye of Sabre Cat, Jazbay Grapes, Silverside Perch, Skeever Tail.
  3. Weakness to Poison – a poison effect that makes the target more vulnerable to poison. Also on: Abecean Longfin, Bleeding Crown, Chaurus Eggs, Deathbell, Pine Thrush Egg, Sabre Cat Tooth, Small Antlers.
  4. Restore Magicka – instantly restores spent Magicka. Also on: Briar Heart, Creep Cluster, Dwarven Oil, Ectoplasm, Elves Ear, Fire Salts, Frost Salts, Grass Pod, Human Flesh, Moon Sugar, Mora Tapinella, Pearl, Red Mountain Flower, Taproot, Vampire Dust, White Cap.

Tips and trivia

With Hearthfire you can grow it in your garden or greenhouse. Oddly, the picked ingredient is much bigger than the lichen you see growing.

Values from the Skyrim game files (Skyrim.esm): base value 5 gold, weight 0.25.
