Frost Salts come from Frost Atronachs and are worth a hefty 100 gold each. That makes them one of the most valuable ingredients you can pick up early. They give Restore Magicka, Fortify Conjuration and Resist Frost, plus Weakness to Fire for poisons.
Alchemy effects
The effects are listed in the order you discover them by eating the ingredient or using it in a potion. Two ingredients make a potion when they share at least one effect.
- Weakness to Fire – a poison effect that makes the target take more fire damage. Also on: Bleeding Crown, Ice Wraith Teeth, Juniper Berries, Moon Sugar, Powdered Mammoth Tusk.
- Resist Frost – reduces the frost damage you take for a while. Also on: Frost Mirriam, Hawk Beak, Moon Sugar, Purple Mountain Flower, Silverside Perch, Slaughterfish Scales, Small Pearl, Snowberries, Thistle Branch.
- Restore Magicka – instantly restores spent Magicka. Also on: Briar Heart, Creep Cluster, Dwarven Oil, Ectoplasm, Elves Ear, Fire Salts, Giant Lichen, Grass Pod, Human Flesh, Moon Sugar, Mora Tapinella, Pearl, Red Mountain Flower, Taproot, Vampire Dust, White Cap.
- Fortify Conjuration – makes your Conjuration spells last longer for a while. Also on: Berit’s Ashes, Blue Butterfly Wing, Blue Mountain Flower, Bone Meal, Hagraven Feathers, Lavender.
Tips and trivia
Farengar gives you a special batch, “Farengar’s Frost Salts”, to deliver to Arcadia. Dravynea the Stoneweaver in Kynesgrove has her own Frost Salts request. You can also make them at the Atronach Forge from a salt pile, a sapphire and a soul gem, and with Dawnguard they’re used for exploding ice bolts.
