Agmaer is a young Nord with big dreams and very little experience: he wants to join the Dawnguard (Dawnguard) and help protect his people from the vampire threat sweeping Skyrim. You meet him right at the start of the vampire-hunting storyline, looking a little lost on the road to Fort Dawnguard.
Where to find them
He first turns up at the entrance to Dayspring Canyon. After he has been accepted into the order, he stays at the fort and wanders around its interior. Early on you can also find him practising with his new crossbow by shooting at a stack of crates.
Quests
During Dawnguard he asks to tag along with you to the fort, admitting he is too nervous to face Isran alone. When Isran grills him about his weapon skills, Agmaer confesses that his main experience is chasing off wolves with his father’s axe. Isran finds this funny, but sees enough potential to hand him a crossbow and start training him. Keep him alive on that walk: if he dies before reaching the fort, the quest can get stuck.
Follower & marriage
Once Prophet is done, you can recruit Agmaer as a follower. His strongest skills are One-Handed, Two-Handed, Block and Light Armor, and his stats match those of fellow recruit Beleval. Be aware that he stops levelling at 25, one of the lowest caps of any follower. Hand him a staff and he will happily cast with it while swinging a one-handed weapon in his other hand. Like other followers, he can also act as a steward and be invited into the Blades.
Personality & relationships
Agmaer is earnest, a bit jittery and keen to make a good impression. He joined because he had seen the vampires himself and decided that hiding from the night was not an option. In his view, it came down to living in fear or doing something to keep people safe. He also assumes you must have slain loads of vampires already.
Good to know
After joining up he trades his plain clothes for Dawnguard armor, minus the helmet. While he is doing his target practice, you can collect the steel bolts he fires as a slow but endless supply of ammunition, and his practice shots don’t hurt you if you wander into the line of fire. He is voiced by Jason Marsden.
