Reaper Bracers are light gauntlets with 9 armor rating and a weight of 2, added by Dawnguard. They belong to the Reaper, a shadowy executioner with red eyes who lurks in the Soul Cairn. They have no enchantment – their job is to complete his grim costume of robes, hood and bracers.
How to get it
According to the game files, the only one wearing the bracers is the Reaper himself. To meet him, go to the Reaper’s Lair in the Soul Cairn during or after the Dawnguard storyline:
- Collect the three Reaper Gem Fragments from chests in the Soul Cairn – each sits beneath one of the Ideal Masters.
- Place them on the altar in the Reaper’s Lair to summon him along with a few Bonemen.
- Defeat him, but step out of his acid spray.
Here is the catch: according to UESP, his robes, hood and bracers cannot be looted. When he falls he leaves Ghastly Remains with black soul gems and a Daedra heart, not his outfit. So this page is more of a field guide than a loot guide.
Is it worth wearing?
Even if you could take them, there is no enchantment and only modest armor, similar to leather gloves. The Reaper fight is worth doing for the soul gems and the bragging rights, not for the bracers. If you want a dark, hooded look in Dawnguard, the vampire armor pieces are actual lootable options.
Good to know
- The Reaper’s level scales with yours, so he stays a real fight.
- Gem fragments can respawn, according to players, which can create duplicates.
