Blisterwort is a reddish mushroom that grows in caves all over Skyrim. It’s cheap and common, but it’s also one of the few ingredients with Fortify Smithing, which makes it a quiet favourite of anyone chasing better weapon upgrades.
Alchemy effects
The effects are listed in the order you discover them by eating the ingredient or using it in a potion. Two ingredients make a potion when they share at least one effect.
- Damage Stamina – a poison effect that drains the target’s Stamina on the spot. Also on: Berit’s Ashes, Blue Butterfly Wing, Bone Meal, Canis Root, Crimson Nirnroot, Cyrodilic Spadetail, Giant’s Toe, Jarrin Root, Nirnroot, Rock Warbler Egg, Spider Egg.
- Frenzy – a poison effect that makes low-level creatures and people attack anything nearby. Also on: Falmer Ear, Fly Amanita, Hagraven Feathers, Human Heart, Troll Fat.
- Restore Health – instantly restores lost Health. Also on: Blue Dartwing, Blue Mountain Flower, Butterfly Wing, Charred Skeever Hide, Daedra Heart, Eye of Sabre Cat, Imp Stool, Rock Warbler Egg, Swamp Fungal Pod, Wheat.
- Fortify Smithing – makes weapon and armor improvements better – drink it before using a grindstone or workbench. Also on: Glowing Mushroom, Sabre Cat Tooth, Spriggan Sap.
Tips and trivia
Ask Orgnar about the alchemy lab and he’ll tell you himself: Blisterwort and Wheat make a healing potion. Note that Blisterwort’s Restore Health is weaker than on most ingredients, so it’s a cheap fix rather than a great one.
