Windhelm Docks

Busy harbour just east of Windhelm’s walls with the Argonian Assemblage, shipping offices, warehouses and the Northern Maiden – your ride to Solstheim.

The Windhelm Docks lie just outside the walls on the east side of Windhelm. This is the city’s waterfront, with shipping offices, a warehouse and the Argonian Assemblage all packed along the river. Most players first come here looking for a boat: Gjalund Salt-Sage, captain of the Northern Maiden, can take you across to Solstheim (Dragonborn).

What you’ll find

  • The Argonian Assemblage, the dockworkers’ quarters.
  • The Clan Shatter-Shield Office and the East Empire Company Office.
  • A warehouse.
  • The ship Northern Maiden, moored at the pier.
  • A crowd of locals: Dalan Merchad, Gjalund Salt-Sage, Kjar, Neetrenaza, Orthus Endario, Scouts-Many-Marshes, Shahvee, Stands-In-Shallows and Suvaris Atheron.

Quests

  • A Few Words with You
  • Find Shahvee’s Amulet
  • Harsh Master
  • Rise in the East
  • Some Light Theft

Tips

Take a moment to talk to the dockworkers before you head off. Several of the quests above start right here on the waterfront, and it’s easier to pick them up in one sweep than to keep walking back out through the city gate later.

If you’re heading to Solstheim, find Gjalund near the Northern Maiden and pay for passage – it’s the quickest way to reach the island (Dragonborn). Just make sure your inventory and your quests on the mainland are in order before you sail.

Shahvee is one of the dockside residents, and her missing amulet ties in with a couple of nearby dungeons, so it’s worth chatting with her early – the docks are a natural hub for small errands that send you out into the surrounding wilds.
