Hlaalu Farm is a modest homestead on the road heading east from Windhelm Stables, outside Windhelm. There are no dungeons, no dragons and no ancient curses here – just a field, a farmhouse and a couple of people trying to get the harvest in. Drop by when you want to sell crops, use a free crafting station, or simply enjoy a quiet roadside moment before the next tomb full of draugr.
What you’ll find
- Belyn Hlaalu, the owner of the farm, who will buy wheat from you.
- Adisla, who lives here and spends her day working in the field.
- Wheat growing in the field and a nest with chicken’s eggs to collect.
- A cooking pot, a grindstone, a tanning rack and a wood chopping block – everything a travelling adventurer needs to cook, sharpen, tan hides and earn a few septims chopping firewood.
- A source of quarried stone just outside the fence, across from the grindstone.
Tips
The crops in the field belong to the farm, so harvesting them in front of the owners is the quickest way to turn a friendly visit into a bounty. If you want to sell wheat, Belyn is your man. The tanning rack and grindstone are handy if you’ve just come back from a hunt and want to turn pelts into leather and polish your blade before heading into the wilds again.
The quarried stone outside the fence is worth knowing about if you have Hearthfire and are building a home – it’s a convenient place to grab building material on the way past. The farm also sits next to its neighbour, Hollyfrost Farm, further along the same road, so you can do a little farm-hopping tour if you have a lot of wheat to unload.
Good to know
The farmhouse has a fireplace inside, but you won’t find a chimney on the outside. Where the smoke goes is one of Skyrim’s small unsolved mysteries – perhaps the same place as all those sweetrolls.
