Brandy-Mug Farm

Small working farm just outside Windhelm, east of the stables, run by Bolfrida Brandy-Mug – wheat to sell and an Alteration skill book on the mantel.

Brandy-Mug Farm is a modest homestead just outside Windhelm, east of the Windhelm Stables. It is owned and run by Bolfrida Brandy-Mug. It’s not a dungeon and nothing here wants to kill you, which on this side of Skyrim counts as a selling point. Drop by for a free skill book, some easy harvesting and a quick bit of honest farm work.

What you’ll find

  • A wheat field – you can harvest the wheat and sell it to Bolfrida.
  • Two nests for collecting chicken’s eggs.
  • Snowberries growing at the far end of the field.
  • A grindstone in the field next to the house.
  • A wood chopping block in the fence around the wheat.
  • Bolfrida’s farmhouse, with a skill book sitting on the fireplace.
  • Bolfrida Brandy-Mug herself, the owner – the person to talk to when you want to sell your harvest.

Tips

If you’re short on coin early on, this is one of the gentler ways to earn some near Windhelm: pick the wheat, sell it back to Bolfrida, then chop a few logs at the block. Not glamorous, but nobody ever got eaten by a wheat field. Use the grindstone to sharpen your weapon before heading out to the more dangerous spots to the south. The eggs and snowberries are both alchemy ingredients, so a beginner alchemist can stock up here without fighting anything. And grab the skill book while you’re inside – a free level in Alteration for walking into someone’s kitchen is a very good deal. The farm sits right next to the stables, so it’s an easy stop on your way in or out of the city.
