Sarethi Farm is a wheat mill and farm far to the west of Riften, just north of Treva’s Watch. It looks like an ordinary homestead from the road, but it is the only place in Skyrim where someone actually farms nirnroot – and anyone who has chased that ringing plant along riverbanks will appreciate how impressive that is.
What you’ll find
- Avrusa Sarethi – a Dunmer alchemist who claims to be the only person who knows how to grow nirnroot. She tends the field herself.
- Aduri Sarethi – her sister, who also lives on the farm.
- A nirnroot field, plus gourds and potatoes. All three can be sold to Avrusa.
- Two nests for gathering chicken’s eggs.
- An alchemy lab, a grain mill and a tanning rack.
- A hold guard keeps an eye on the place.
Quests
- Smooth Jazbay – ask Avrusa why she looks exhausted and she explains that she needs twenty jazbay grapes for the soil of her crop. Bring them and she becomes available for marriage.
- A Return To Your Roots – showing Sinderion’s Field Journal to Avrusa either moves that quest along or finishes it, depending on whether you have already collected all thirty pieces of crimson nirnroot.
Notable items
- Assorted alchemy ingredients on shelves and in a box in the basement.
- Two potion recipes and several potions in an end table by the basement bed.
Tips
Alchemists should treat this as a regular stop: you get a lab, a merchant who buys crops and a renewable supply of nirnroot just outside the door. Pick the field, brew, sell, repeat. Remember that the basement goods belong to the Sarethis, so mind the red crosshair.
During the civil war, players report that soldiers from opposing sides sometimes spawn near the farm and start fighting, or that hunters wander in and kill the livestock while the sisters panic. It sorts itself out eventually, but think twice before joining in.
