Gulum-Ei

Gulum-Ei is a shifty Argonian dockworker at Solitude's East Empire Company Warehouse who smuggles goods for the Thieves Guild and later becomes your fence.

Gulum-Ei is an Argonian dockworker at the East Empire Company Warehouse in Solitude, helping to process every shipment that passes through the port. That job gives him first pick of some very nice cargo, and he quietly passes a cut of what he lifts to the Thieves Guild. He is not a real member, but the arrangement has paid well enough for the Guild to let him work on his own.

Where to find them

At The Winking Skeever during the day, and at the warehouse when he is working.

Quests

Scoundrel’s Folly – his deliveries to the Guild have been drying up, and Mercer Frey suspects he has been brokering for the Guild’s mystery enemy, the one who bought Goldenglow Estate. Gulum-Ei plays dumb until you persuade him, or bribe him by fetching a case of Firebrand Wine from the Blue Palace. Threats don’t work. He then admits only that a woman with a grudge against Mercer paid him, and heads off. Tail him into Brinewater Grotto and corner him, and he finally gives up the name: Karliah. He is not essential during this quest; if you kill him, his confession and the Goldenglow bill of sale are in a nearby chest.

Services

Once the quest is resolved and he is still alive, he offers to buy your stolen goods – a fence in the north.

Personality & relationships

Before the Thieves Guild gets involved he is rude and brushes off strangers. Once business is on the table, he is slippery, polite and very keen that you tell Mercer how helpful he was. He is the brother of Jaree-Ra and Deeja of the Blackblood Marauders, and will mention it if they are dead.

Good to know

  • His real name is Galum-Jei, and he has also used the alias Gajul-Lei.
  • If the Guild later gains influence in Solitude, he happily notes he no longer has to hide his goods from the guards.
