The East Empire Company Warehouse is the trading company’s big storage dock at the foot of Solitude, down by the water. According to the city guard, every shipment the company handles passes through here. Inside you’ll find moored ships, stacks of crates and patrolling wardens who take trespassing very personally. For thieves, it is a treasure trove; for everyone else, it is a great place to collect a bounty.
What you’ll find
- Several ships docked inside a huge covered warehouse, plus crates and shelves with average loot.
- East Empire Wardens on patrol who attack trespassers on sight. After Scoundrel’s Folly they are replaced by ordinary Solitude guards, who at least give you a ten-second warning first.
- The dockmaster’s office behind the ship at the top of a dirt ramp, with jewelry and gold lying around.
- A hidden passage behind some containers on the right that leads into Brinewater Grotto.
- Vittoria Vici’s building, upstairs, where a wieldable knife sits on a plate on a crate outside, next to a copy of Beggar Prince.
Quests
- Scoundrel’s Folly – the Thieves Guild sends you here after Gulum-Ei; the secret cave behind the crates opens up during this quest.
- The Litany of Larceny – the East Empire Trading Map in the dockmaster’s office is a larceny target you can sell to Delvin Mallory back in Riften. It only appears if you are part of the Guild.
Notable items
- Speech skill book The Buying Game – up the first ramp, follow it to the stairs, turn left and check the top of three crates along that shelf.
- Smithing skill book Heavy Armor Forging – take the route between the shelves instead of the ramp; it sits right of a pile of iron ingots.
- Two sets of unique Noble Clothes (only found here) and the rare Fur-Lined Boots.
- A Dance in Fire, Book I.
- An underwater chest with a leveled amount of gold outside: step off the boardwalk at the stairs nearest the warehouse and look north.
Tips
You don’t need the Thieves Guild to get in – the door can simply be picked. But guards and dockworkers are everywhere, getting spotted means a small bounty, and killing anyone costs a hefty 1,000 gold each. A high Sneak skill is a must. Some players bring a follower such as Cicero or a housecarl to keep the guards busy while they stay hidden – effective, if not exactly subtle.
Good to know
The name is very likely a nod to the real-world East India Company. Mercenary Teldryn Sero has his own opinion of the firm and calls them “Heartless Bastards”.
