Jorn is a Nord student at the Bards College in Solitude, and his instrument of choice is the drum. Unlike most of his classmates, he isn’t aiming for a cosy job in some Jarl’s court – his big plan is to graduate, sign up with the Imperial Legion and drum the troops forward into battle.
Where to find them
He lives and studies at the Bards College. Ask him for a song and he’ll play – but he always heads back to the College courtyard to perform it.
Quests
Tending the Flames: once you’ve persuaded the Jarl to allow the Burning of King Olaf again, Jorn is the one you report to. He spreads the word, tells you the festival starts at dusk and asks you to come back after dark to kick it off outside the College. During the celebration he often plays alongside Ataf.
Personality & relationships
Jorn is all passion and very little patience for rules. He respects Viarmo as his drum teacher, but grumbles that the headmaster cares too much about precision and not enough about instinct and fire. He’s also proud of the craft itself, pointing out that bards are the ones who actually write history down.
In class he works on a drum version of an old tale for Inge Six Fingers and a war epic for Giraud Gemane, and he enjoys teasing Ataf about a crush on Illdi. He fancies Lisette too, though he doubts she would wait around for a soldier to come home.
Good to know
If you’ve joined the College and Jorn dies, you’ll get a small inheritance letter. He and Giraud also seem to have a mutual dislike: if you kill one of them, the other writes to say the victim won’t be missed. He has also been spotted shouting threats at Jala through the door of her house.
