Bergritte Battle-Born is an elderly Nord living in Whiterun. She is married to Olfrid, the head of the Battle-Born clan, mother of Alfhild and grandmother of Lars.
Where to find them
She spends her time in Whiterun with the rest of the Battle-Born household.
Personality & relationships
Bergritte has no love for the Gray-Manes and can’t believe they still dare show their faces in public, though she also mourns the old friendship between the two clans, which has turned into open hostility. She speaks of Skyrim’s troubles in grim, almost prophetic terms, sprinkling in old Nordic phrases about a war without end.
At home she has a mischievous streak. When Alfhild offers to read to her in the evening, Bergritte requests The Lusty Argonian Maid, then sighs that her daughter has no sense of humour and settles for The Real Barenziah. She also worries about Lars staying indoors, suspects Braith is behind it, and threatens to have a word with the girl’s mother. If the Stormcloaks win the Battle for Whiterun, she grumbles that they will surely rob her family blind sooner or later.
Good to know
The game files list her race as “Elder” rather than Nord. Kill her and Alfhild may hire thugs to make you pay; getting caught stealing from the Battle-Borns can have the same result.
