Danica Pure-Spring is a Nord priestess who looks after the Temple of Kynareth in Whiterun. On paper her job is worship. In practice the civil war has turned her into the city’s busiest nurse, and she will happily tell you that the steady flow of wounded soldiers keeps her from her priestly duties. She is warm, a little weary, and calls almost everyone “child”.
Where to find them
She works inside the Temple of Kynareth, right next to the withered Gildergreen tree. Most of the time you will find her tending the sick and injured who fill the temple beds.
Quests
The Blessings of Nature – ask Danica about the temple and the conversation quickly drifts to the Gildergreen, which was struck by lightning and now stands dead. The tree was grown from a cutting of the Eldergleam, the ancient mother tree hidden in the Eldergleam Sanctuary, and Danica believes some of its sap could wake the Gildergreen from its slumber. Ordinary metal won’t scratch the Eldergleam, though, so she points you towards Nettlebane, a blade the Hagravens use for sacrificing Spriggans. It is kept at Orphan Rock. She admits the hags scare her far too much to go herself. Once you return, she wants nothing to do with touching the dagger and sends you on to the sanctuary for the sap. The pilgrim Maurice Jondrelle overhears all this and may tag along.
Hired Muscle – The Companions can send you to lean on her. After a short scuffle she gives in.
Idgrod’s Note – Idgrod the Younger may ask you to deliver a letter to Danica about the health of her brother, whom Danica has been helping with potions.
Services
After you finish The Blessings of Nature, Danica offers Restoration training at Master level, making her one of the best healing teachers in Skyrim.
Personality & relationships
Danica is devoted to Kynareth, the goddess of wind and rain, and credits her for the good harvests that keep Whiterun prosperous. She wishes the fighting would simply end so she could go back to running a temple instead of a field hospital. She clearly has no love for Hagravens and calls them filthy. If her acolyte Jenssen dies, she mourns him.
Good to know
Steal from the temple and she may send hired thugs after you. Healers can hold a grudge, apparently.
