Snowberries

Red berries from snowy bushes – the only ingredient with Resist Fire, Frost and Shock.

Snowberries grow on holly-like bushes in Skyrim’s snowy regions. They’re the only ingredient that can resist all three elements – fire, frost and shock – and every effect is beneficial. Add Fortify Enchanting, and you have one of the most useful cheap ingredients in the game.

Alchemy effects

The effects are listed in the order you discover them by eating the ingredient or using it in a potion. Two ingredients make a potion when they share at least one effect.

  1. Resist Fire – reduces the fire damage you take for a while. Also on: Berit’s Ashes, Bone Meal, Dragon’s Tongue, Elves Ear, Fire Salts, Fly Amanita, Mudcrab Chitin.
  2. Fortify Enchanting – makes the enchantments you create stronger – drink it before using the Arcane Enchanter. Also on: Blue Butterfly Wing, Hagraven Claw, Spriggan Sap.
  3. Resist Frost – reduces the frost damage you take for a while. Also on: Frost Mirriam, Frost Salts, Hawk Beak, Moon Sugar, Purple Mountain Flower, Silverside Perch, Slaughterfish Scales, Small Pearl, Thistle Branch.
  4. Resist Shock – reduces the shock damage you take for a while. Also on: Blue Dartwing, Glow Dust, Glowing Mushroom, Hawk Beak, Pearl, Pine Thrush Egg, Swamp Fungal Pod.

Tips and trivia

With Hearthfire you can plant them – each harvest gives five berries – and two berries make a Snowberry Crostata. They pair well with Hawk Beak for an all-round resistance potion.
