Ataf is a Redguard student at the Bards College in Solitude. He is the youngest bard the college has ever admitted and is happy to tell you he is also the best. Pantea Ateia is less sure: her feedback on his rendition of Ragnar the Red is that he needs to lean a lot harder on the words “Ragnar” and “Red”.
Where to find them
At the Bards College, where he practises poetic verses between 12 PM and 3 PM. He also pops out to the market and the inn now and then.
Personality & relationships
Ataf is earnest, polite and a bit green. He tells Jala at the market about an ice-fishing trip out where the Blackbloods roam that got him nothing except frozen. When he buys leeks she tells him to eat more tomatoes, just like his mother used to.
He orders spiced wine from Evette San even though he doesn’t usually drink. Viarmo is trying to win Elisif over to the Burning of King Olaf, and Ataf doesn’t want to look like a lightweight in front of the other bards. After the festival he turns the wine down because he still feels sick. He also thinks Illdi is a better singer than the teachers realise, which leads Jorn to conclude that someone has a crush.
Good to know
If Ataf dies, he may eventually reappear at the college, anywhere from a few weeks to about a month later.
