Greta is a Nord townswoman in Solitude, wife of the fishmonger Addvar and mother of little Svari. She was also the sister of Roggvir, the gate guard executed for letting Ulfric Stormcloak ride out of the city after the death of High King Torygg.
Where to find them
When you first arrive in Solitude she is in the crowd to the right, watching her brother’s execution. Afterwards she lives in Addvar’s House and wanders the city streets.
Quests
Return to Grace – Svari tells you her mother has stopped going to the Temple of the Divines. Greta wants to go back, but not without something of Talos to hold on to: the amulet Roggvir kept hidden on him. She can’t bear to go near his body, so she asks you to fetch it from the stone coffin in the Solitude catacombs. Bring it back and she returns to worship – after that you can hear her reciting temple prayers.
Personality & relationships
Greta is in deep mourning and not in the mood to chat. If you bring up Roggvir, she defends him fiercely: in her eyes he did the honourable Nord thing, since Ulfric beat Torygg in fair combat. Call him a traitor and she flares up; agree he acted on principle and she softens, saying Captain Aldis understood him, and that she could not have stayed in the city if anyone else had overseen the execution.
At home the family scrapes by on fish and potatoes. When Svari is caught pinching an apple from Jala‘s cart, Greta offers to settle it with a potato.
Good to know
- If Addvar dies, Greta takes over his fish stand in the market.
- The quest can complete without Greta actually taking the amulet or handing over the promised reward.
