Jervar

Jervar is Skulvar Sable-Hilt's son, a reluctant Nord stablehand at the Whiterun Stables who would rather slay dragons than shovel dung.

Jervar is a Nord who works at the Whiterun Stables just outside Whiterun. His father, Skulvar Sable-Hilt, is the stablemaster, and the business belongs to Lillith Maiden-Loom. Jervar’s part of the job is mostly sweeping and shovelling, and he is not thrilled about it.

Where to find them

He works around the stables and the land next to the farm outside the city gates.

Services

Normally he just sends you to his father if you want a horse. If Skulvar dies, Jervar takes over as stablemaster and sells horses himself, finally proving his father wrong about his abilities.

Personality & relationships

Jervar and Skulvar have a classic father-son friction. Skulvar checks every chore twice, and Jervar answers with mounting irritation. When Skulvar spots a wild mare outside the walls and dreams of breaking and selling her, Jervar is slow to see the point. His own dream is bigger: he admits he doesn’t even like horses and would rather go out and fight dragons, which he thinks are basically big lizards with valuable scales. His father is not impressed.

Good to know

If his father is murdered, Jervar sends you a letter thanking you. Killing Lillith Maiden-Loom also earns you a letter from him. During the quest involving Saadia and the stranger waiting at the stables, Jervar can get killed.
