Svana Far-Shield

Svana Far-Shield is a kind-hearted Nord who works herself ragged at her aunt Haelga’s Bunkhouse in Riften and wants to expose her aunt’s secret.
“The Bunkhouse isn’t an inn. I’d recommend the Bee and Barb.”

Svana Far-Shield is a young Nord woman in Riften who works for her aunt Haelga at Haelga’s Bunkhouse. “Works for” is generous – Svana feels more like an unpaid servant, and the dark circles under her eyes back that up. She is also one of the gentler souls in a city that doesn’t reward gentleness.

Where to find them

Svana is at Haelga’s Bunkhouse, keeping the place running. Just don’t treat it like an inn – she will point you to the Bee and Barb if you want a room.

Quests

Caught Red Handed: Ask Svana about her work and she confides how her aunt treats her. She wants to shame Haelga by collecting three Marks of Dibella from the men Haelga has been seeing: Indaryn, Hofgrir Horse-Crusher and Bolli. She asks you not to kill anyone for them, and killing one of the men will fail the quest. If you finish it in her favour, most of the bunkhouse’s items become free to take instead of stealing.

Personality & relationships

Svana looks out for everyone. She defends Wujeeta when Haelga nags about rent, worries aloud about how sad Wujeeta seems, offers Madesi a bed so he can leave Beggar’s Row, and tells Valindor he works too hard. She has far less patience for Tythis Ulen, whose crude advances get him a very specific threat.

She is secretly in love with Sibbi Black-Briar and says she is saving herself for him, while Haelga thinks Sibbi only wants one thing. Lynly Star-Sung reveals that Svana sent Sibbi poetry, and talk with Brand-Shei hints she feels guilty about the death of Svidi’s brother. Despite everything, she is upset if Haelga dies.
