Indaryn

Indaryn is the Dunmer brewmaster running the Black-Briar Meadery in Riften, squeezing profits for Maven while his own workers quietly resent him.

Indaryn is a Dunmer and the man in charge of day-to-day work at the Black-Briar Meadery in Riften. He calls himself the brewmaster, and his job description is simple: keep Maven Black-Briar‘s mead flowing and her coffers full. He boasts that the meadery has never been more profitable since he took over as foreman – and that a profitable meadery means a rich Indaryn.

Where to find them

He works at the Black-Briar Meadery and sleeps there at night as well. Steal from the meadery and he’ll send hired thugs after you, so keep your fingers out of the barrels unless you’ve earned the right.

Quests

Caught Red Handed – Indaryn has been carrying on with Haelga, and you need to get his Mark of Dibella from him for Svana Far-Shield. If he dies before or during the quest, it fails.

Under the Table – Romlyn Dreth asks you to smuggle a keg of meadery stock to Ivarstead. Instead of delivering it, you can tell Indaryn what Romlyn is up to. He rewards you and you’re free to help yourself to the mead barrels in the brewery afterwards.

Personality & relationships

Indaryn isn’t nervous about his position and, unlike most meadery staff, will tell you honestly what he thinks of Maven: she can buy or sell anyone, probably pulls the strings in Riften, and keeps some very unpleasant problem-solvers on her payroll. His people skills are less impressive. He complains to Keerava that nobody listens to him, chews out Ungrien over spoiled kegs, and openly suspects Romlyn of making cases disappear. Niluva Hlaalu lives in fear of being fired by him. When Romlyn pitches a scheme against a rival meadery in Whiterun, Indaryn refuses to move without Maven’s say-so.

Good to know

A letter in his room shows Maven warning him not to make rules in her name, or Maul will pay him a visit. Notes in the meadery reveal someone filled his bed with skeever droppings, and he threatened everyone with half pay until the culprit owned up. Dropping an item in The Bee and Barb can also spark a fight between him and the Snow-Shods, which he usually loses for good.
