Elrindir

Elrindir is a Bosmer fletcher who runs The Drunken Huntsman in Whiterun with his brother Anoriath, a shop named after a very painful hunting trip.
“Hello friend. In the market for some hunting supplies?”

Elrindir is a Wood Elf merchant who co-owns The Drunken Huntsman, a hunting-supply shop in Whiterun, together with his brother Anoriath. He handles the counter while his brother is more often out hunting, and he is usually the polite, businesslike half of the pair.

Where to find them

He spends his days behind the counter of The Drunken Huntsman, in Whiterun.

Quests

  • Contract: Kill Anoriath – one of the Dark Brotherhood contracts targets his brother. Afterwards Elrindir sometimes greets you as a miserable wretch, even if nobody saw you do it, but he never takes revenge.
  • Rescue Mission – Vilkas of The Companions can send you to rescue him from a random location.
  • Hired Muscle – he can also be the target of a Companions job, where you rough him up and report back to Farkas.

Services

Elrindir is a fletcher and sells hunting supplies, which makes his shop a handy stop for archers who need arrows and bows.

Personality & relationships

Ask him about the shop’s name and he will tell the story with visible embarrassment: after far too much mead, the brothers went on a moonlit hunt, got separated, and Anoriath mistook him for a deer and put an arrow in his rump. They decided that deserved to be the name of the business.

The brothers bicker like any siblings. Elrindir complains when Anoriath wants to disappear on weeks-long hunts and accuses him of dodging work, while Anoriath teases that he has lived among Nords so long he has become one. They also talk about restocking arrows from a shipment out of Riverwood, and worry about their father, from whom they have not heard in a while; Anoriath suggests riding to Solitude to check for a messenger ship.

He greets fellow Bosmer with real warmth and Nords or beastfolk with a slightly different line. For newcomers looking for work, he recommends Hulda at the Bannered Mare or a visit to Dragonsreach.
