Mora Tapinella

A fungus growing on stumps and fallen logs – Restore Magicka and Fortify Illusion.

Mora Tapinella is a brown, frilly fungus clinging to old stumps and fallen trees. It’s easy to overlook but useful: Restore Magicka and Fortify Illusion for mages, Regenerate Stamina for fighters, and Lingering Damage Health for poisons.

Alchemy effects

The effects are listed in the order you discover them by eating the ingredient or using it in a potion. Two ingredients make a potion when they share at least one effect.

  1. Restore Magicka – instantly restores spent Magicka. Also on: Briar Heart, Creep Cluster, Dwarven Oil, Ectoplasm, Elves Ear, Fire Salts, Frost Salts, Giant Lichen, Grass Pod, Human Flesh, Moon Sugar, Pearl, Red Mountain Flower, Taproot, Vampire Dust, White Cap.
  2. Lingering Damage Health – a poison effect that deals damage to the target’s Health over time. Also on: Imp Stool, Orange Dartwing, Slaughterfish Egg, Slaughterfish Scales.
  3. Regenerate Stamina – makes your Stamina regenerate faster for a while. Also on: Bee, Fly Amanita, Scaly Pholiota.
  4. Fortify Illusion – makes your Illusion spells stronger for a while. Also on: Dragon’s Tongue, Dwarven Oil, Scaly Pholiota, Taproot.

Tips and trivia

The name is a mix: “mora” means blackberry in several Romance languages, and Tapinella is a real genus of inedible fungi.

Where to find it

  • At the base of stumps and on fallen trees throughout Skyrim.
  • At least five at Autumnshade Clearing in the Rift.
  • Two each at Clearpine Pond, Dragon Bridge Overlook, Sleeping Tree Camp and just southwest of Riverwood along the road.
  • Two in the tunnels under Helgen Keep during Unbound (climb the rocks behind the sleeping bear).
  • Two in Sovngarde, three around Icewater Jetty (Dawnguard), and some at Windstad Manor (Hearthfire).
