Garlic is one of the most common ingredients in Skyrim and one of the friendliest: all four of its effects are positive, so you can’t accidentally brew a poison with it. Resist Poison, Fortify Stamina, Regenerate Health and Regenerate Magicka make it great filler for useful potions. It’s also a staple in cooking.
Alchemy effects
The effects are listed in the order you discover them by eating the ingredient or using it in a potion. Two ingredients make a potion when they share at least one effect.
