Vulwulf Snow-Shod is a Nord Stormcloak veteran and the patriarch of the Snow-Shod family in Riften. A worshipper of Talos, he turned against the Empire when the White-Gold Concordat was signed, and he threw his full support behind Ulfric Stormcloak as soon as the civil war began.
Where to find them
He spends most of his time at the Bee and Barb, drink in hand, loudly championing the Stormcloaks – or demanding another round from Talen-Jei and hurling insults when he’s told he has had enough.
Quests
- Hired Muscle – He can be one of the people you’re sent to intimidate by winning a brawl.
- The Book of Love – Offer him The Warmth of Mara and he scoffs that Mara does nothing while Stormcloak soldiers die for no good reason.
- Bound Until Death – He attends the wedding of his son Asgeir to the Imperial Vittoria Vici, grumbling the whole way through. If Vittoria is killed, he insists the Empire did it to pin the blame on the Stormcloaks.
Personality & relationships
Vulwulf is married to Nura Snow-Shod and has two sons, Asgeir and Unmid. He is proud that Unmid became the Jarl’s housecarl, but endlessly frustrated with Asgeir for choosing business over the battlefield – with gold Vulwulf gave him, as he likes to point out. Nura keeps telling him to ease off.
What really drives him is the death of his daughter Lilija. She joined the Stormcloaks as a Battle Maiden who healed the wounded and never lifted a blade, yet he says Imperial soldiers cut her down anyway. Since then he has grown bitter and aggressive towards anyone he suspects of Imperial sympathies. An Imperial Dragonborn gets open disdain no matter which side they fight for, while a fellow Nord is greeted warmly and asked whether they’re taking the fight to the Empire.
Good to know
For all his hatred of Imperials, Vulwulf happily agrees to bankroll weapon shipments to the Stormcloaks through Maven Black-Briar – the same Maven he sneers at when Asgeir’s partnership with her comes up. She promises to treat the shipments as if they were her own. Make of that what you will.
