Aerin is an Imperial who lives in his own house in Riften. He is best known as the loyal friend and shadow of Mjoll the Lioness, and the reason she ended up in Riften at all.
Where to find them
He lives in Aerin’s House, which Mjoll shares, and is often found with her at the Bee and Barb. Aerin goes wherever Mjoll goes, unless you take her on as your own follower. If you marry Mjoll and she isn’t following you, he moves with her to your home. If she joins the Blades, he turns up at Sky Haven Temple and even tags along on dragon hunts, which he seldom survives.
Quests
Aerin can pop up in a few radiant quests. In Rescue Mission he may be the captive locked in a cage at Rannveig’s Fast. During The Fishing Job, his Silver Sapphire Necklace can be one of the targets Delvin Mallory sends you after. In Hunting the Monster (Dawnguard), he may be one of the people who can point you to a vampire.
Personality & relationships
Aerin found Mjoll half-dead outside Mzinchaleft, where a Dwarven Centurion had beaten her, and nursed her back to health in his home. His stories about Riften’s troubles convinced her to stay and clean the place up. He clearly adores her: he worries she’ll get herself in trouble with the Thieves Guild and Maven Black-Briar, and dreads the day she leaves. Mjoll, in turn, says he always sees the good in people. He also mentions that she has taught him some swordplay.
Good to know
If Mjoll joins the Blades or marries you and moves away, Aerin keeps talking as if he is still in Riften, grumbling about corruption in a town he no longer lives in.
