Asbjorn Fire-Tamer is a Nord living in Riften and the apprentice of Balimund at The Scorched Hammer. He dreams of one day being as good at the anvil as the man who took him in.
Where to find them
He spends most of the day inside The Scorched Hammer. You can’t actually hold a conversation with him while Balimund is still running the shop, but you’ll catch him chatting with other people around town.
Services
If Balimund is killed, or marries you and leaves, Asbjorn takes over The Scorched Hammer. He runs the shop but, unlike his mentor, does not offer Smithing training.
Personality & relationships
Asbjorn was left at Grelod the Kind‘s orphanage as a baby. Grelod claims his parents didn’t want him, though she is hardly a reliable source. Balimund adopted him as a boy to make him his apprentice. Asbjorn had never held a hammer before, yet it felt natural from the first swing. He is openly grateful to Balimund and hopes to make him proud.
Good to know
- Marry Balimund and Asbjorn becomes your stepchild, one of the few people you can gain as a child without Hearthfire. He may move into Balimund’s new home or stay at the forge.
- Kill Balimund and he will send hired thugs after you, mostly around Riften. If he saw you do it, he’ll greet you coldly for a while.
- Stealing from his strongbox can also earn you a visit from hired thugs.
