Thongvor Silver-Blood is a Nord and the head of the wealthy Silver-Blood family of Markarth. He leaves the day-to-day business to his younger brother Thonar and spends his energy on politics instead – mostly complaining that Jarl Igmund won’t listen to him.
Where to find them
He spends much of his time around Understone Keep, trying to get the Jarl’s ear. If the Stormcloaks take Markarth, he sits on the throne himself.
Quests
The Taste of Death: he argues with Brother Verulus about the closed Hall of the Dead, furious at being kept from his ancestors’ graves and accusing the priest of Imperial lies.
The Battle for Fort Sungard: when the Stormcloaks win the city, Thongvor replaces Igmund as Jarl, with Yngvar the Singer as his housecarl and Reburrus Quintilius as steward. As Jarl he lets you buy property in the city in honor of your service.
Personality & relationships
Thongvor is a former Legion soldier who fought in the Great War and now feels the Empire betrayed Skyrim by giving in to the Thalmor and banning Talos. He calls Ulfric Stormcloak a hero for retaking Markarth from the Forsworn, comparing it to Talos at Old Hroldan. Elves get no sympathy from him – any elven Dragonborn gets lumped in with the Dominion – and declared Imperial supporters get much the same treatment. He despises the Forsworn, waves off the market attack as the work of a madman, and is sure the old Dwemer stonework will shrug off any dragon. He has a soft spot for Moth gro-Bagol‘s forge, where he admits he’d rather hold steel than count coins, and sometimes misses his Legion days. Steward Raerek, for his part, would happily see the whole family locked up.
As Jarl he blames the Empire’s neglect for the Forsworn problem – the natives got a taste of independence during the Great War – and plans to ask Ulfric for help clearing them out once the war is over, so they can end up in the mines making the family richer.
