Rolff Stone-Fist is a Nord living in Windhelm and the brother of Galmar Stone-Fist. He is also the city’s most dedicated bigot: he despises the Dark Elves and Argonians and makes no secret of it. If you agree with him, great; if you don’t, he’ll despise you too.
Where to find them
You’ll likely meet him the moment you walk through Windhelm’s main gate, where he and Angrenor Once-Honored are hassling Suvaris Atheron and accusing her of being an Imperial spy. At night he roams the Gray Quarter shouting abuse at the residents.
Quests
He is protected because he can be a target in The Fishing Job, a Thieves Guild pickpocketing quest, so he can’t be killed. You can, however, bet 100 gold that you’ll beat him in a brawl – and few things in Windhelm feel as satisfying.
Personality & relationships
Rolff calls the Dunmer parasites who live under Nord protection yet do nothing for the war, and he suspects they are in league with the Thalmor simply because they’re elves too. He grumbles that the High King invited them in without asking anyone. A Dunmer Dragonborn gets told to go back to Morrowind on sight.
Oddly, losing a fistfight seems to win him over. After the brawl he counts you as a friend, may greet you warmly and can even turn up at your wedding – though if you aren’t a Nord, he’ll still snap at you when the conversation ends. Old habits.
Good to know
Despite his views, he may clap along like everyone else when the Dunmer bard Luaffyn performs at Candlehearth Hall. If you’ve adopted a daughter living in Windhelm, she may mention Rolff warning her that the Gray Quarter is dangerous.
