Sifnar Ironkettle is an old Nord who handles the cooking and the cleaning in the Palace of the Kings, the seat of power in Windhelm. While the jarl and his advisors argue about the war, Sifnar is the one making sure there is food on the table and the floors don’t turn into a swamp of melted snow.
Where to find them
He both lives and works in the Palace of the Kings, so that’s the only place you need to look. Expect to find him going about his chores rather than taking part in any of the political drama.
Personality & relationships
Sifnar is humble to the point of putting himself down. He’ll happily tell you he’s the least important person in the building and that you shouldn’t bother with him. Still, he takes a quiet pride in his job: in his eyes, keeping a royal palace running is hard work, but it is honest work.
Good to know
Don’t let the modest act fool you. Sifnar is one of the palace residents who will send hired thugs after you if you steal from the upstairs part of the palace, and it doesn’t matter whether anyone actually caught you in the act. In the game files his race is listed as “Elder”, the label used for many older characters, but his name marks him as a Nord.
