Cynric Endell is a Breton thief and long-time member of the Thieves Guild under Riften. He brags that he can open any house blindfolded, and he has a genuinely unusual backstory to go with the swagger.
Where to find them
He spends his time with the rest of the Guild beneath the city and is often seen practising at the Guild’s archery range.
Quests
Cynric doesn’t give quests of his own, but he has comments to offer during Under New Management, when you are about to become Guild Master. He reminds you to track down Brynjolf and says he is behind you as long as you keep everyone rich.
Personality & relationships
Before the Guild, Cynric was a jailbreaker: clients paid him to get himself arrested so he could break someone out, or occasionally kill them. He worked jobs for the Guild and the Dark Brotherhood this way, but always alone, with no one to bail him out. His last job went wrong and he spent three years in a High Rock prison. He vowed never to do hard time again, and since he already knew Delvin, he joined the Guild, figuring theft paid better and was safer than assassination.
He joined right after Brynjolf and has no interest in leadership. He doesn’t mind that Vex was picked over him for a senior role; he just wants the money.
Good to know
- He is voiced by Stephen Russell, the voice of Garrett in the Thief series. A nice wink for a master thief.
- Sit by the central target at the archery range while he practises and you can collect his steel arrows for free.
- For all his bragging, his own Lockpicking skill is stuck at 15, and he can’t train it. Vex is the Guild’s lockpicking teacher.
