Hagraven

Hagravens are half-woman, half-bird witches allied with the Forsworn of the Reach. Where to find them and how to deal with their fire magic.

Hagravens were once human witches who traded their humanity for power. What’s left is a feathered, clawed crone who throws fireballs and has a very close relationship with the Forsworn of the Reach.

Where to find them

Mostly in the Reach, around Markarth, at Forsworn camps and in stone circles in the wilderness. They are the ones who create the Forsworn Briarhearts by replacing a warrior’s heart with a briar heart.

Named hagravens

Some hagravens have names and a role in bigger quests: Drascua at Dead Crone Rock, Melka and Petra, and the Glenmoril Witches, whom the Companions send you to hunt in “Blood’s Honor”. In the Forsworn camp quest “Repentance” you can even witness the ritual that turns a witch into a hagraven.

Abilities & attacks

  • Destruction magic – fire hagravens throw Fireballs, others use frost
  • Claw attacks that can give you Brain Rot

How to beat it

Hagravens are slow, and their claw swings are easy to dodge – heavily armored characters can simply walk up and beat them down. Fire-casting hagravens are the dangerous ones; Resist Fire potions make a big difference. Clear the Forsworn around them first if you can.

Loot & harvestables

Hagraven Feathers (always)
Hagraven Claw (sometimes)
Random ingredient (sometimes)
Leveled soul gem (rare)
