The Silver-Blood Inn sits right inside the city gates of Markarth, so it’s usually your first stop after a long ride through the Reach. The wealthy Silver-Blood family owns it, while husband and wife Kleppr and Frabbi run it – mostly by arguing. Come for a bed, a drink, a mercenary or a murder investigation.
What you’ll find
- The innkeepers – Kleppr and Frabbi, forever bickering. Sit by the fireplace and you’ll get a front-row seat as he sends her, very grudgingly, to serve you.
- A mercenary – Vorstag sits near the hearth and can be hired for 500 gold.
- A bard – Ogmund sings by the fire and takes requests.
- A brawler – Cosnach drinks at the bar and offers a fistfight for 100 gold the first time you talk to him.
- Margret’s suite – the priciest room, rented for a whole month by Margret.
- Other regulars include Kerah, Omluag and Muiri, and late in the evening Endon at the bar.
Quests
- The Forsworn Conspiracy – if Weylin kills Margret in the market, Eltrys sends you here to search her room. Loot the key from her body, persuade or pickpocket the owner, pick the lock, or find a key inside the counter. If she survives, she sits by the fireplace instead.
- The Taste of Death
- A Night to Remember
- After Lost to the Ages, Taron Dreth may confront you here – and it ends with him and three mercenaries attacking.
Tips
Beat Cosnach in the brawl and the inn’s low-value items become free to take. If Taron Dreth picks a fight, aim carefully: the owners and patrons all join in, and one stray hit on a bystander can turn the whole city hostile. Endon becomes a fence after the Thieves Guild quest Silver Lining, and you’ll find him at the bar after 9 p.m. If Atar’s mercenaries survive the trip from Karthwasten, they may turn up here hostile – fair game, no bounty. Behave yourself; Markarth’s alternative accommodation is Cidhna Mine.
Good to know
The beds are carved from solid stone rather than wood – very Markarth, not very cosy.
