Ogmund is a grey-haired Nord skald living in Markarth. In his younger days he fought, travelled and turned what he saw into verse – well enough that the Bards College in Solitude still teaches some of his work. These days he mostly tells stories, grumbles about his age and lets the mead do the rest.
Where to find them
He lives in a house above Arnleif and Sons Trading Company. He spends the day at the Silver-Blood Inn and heads home up the nearby stairs at around 6:40 in the evening.
Quests
Search and Seizure: the Thalmor Justiciar Ondolemar is sure Ogmund worships Talos and wants proof. Break into Ogmund’s house and bring back his Amulet of Talos, and the old skald ends up in shackles in Understone Keep, where all he’ll say is a curse on the elves or a defiant “Praise Talos!”. Afterwards he doesn’t think much of you.
He can also be the person you rescue in one version of Rescue Mission for The Companions, and the target of a Hired Muscle job, where someone wants him roughed up as a reminder of his obligations.
Services
Ogmund trains Speech up to Expert level. He only trains you inside the inn, never out on the street.
Personality & relationships
He’s proud of his past, says he finds nothing as beautiful as a battlefield, and will recommend the Bards College to any wanderer – talk to Viarmo if you want in. When Kleppr begs him to play, Ogmund jokes that singing every ballad he knows would turn the whole inn grey, then sends the innkeeper off to fetch him a drink. If the Stormcloaks take Markarth, he’s openly delighted to see Talos worshipped again.
Good to know
If you’re sent to kill him in Deceiving the Herd, pay for his training first – the gold goes into his pockets, and you can take it back from his body.
