Sapphire is a Nord member of the Thieves Guild in Riften. She is named after her favourite thing to steal, refuses to give her real name, and makes it clear early on that she is not looking for new friends. She is also one of the few guild members who seems to run jobs the guild doesn’t know about.
Where to find them
At first Sapphire mostly hangs around above ground, especially in the Bee and Barb. After her business with Shadr is settled she heads down to the guild’s cistern, and later, once Mercer Frey has betrayed the guild and you return with Karliah, she stays there to guard the hideout.
Quests
Stabilized: The first time you walk into Riften you may overhear her leaning on Shadr, a stable hand who borrowed money from her for a shipment that then got stolen – by Sapphire. Shadr asks you for help. You can persuade, bribe or intimidate her into dropping the debt. As a guild member you can instead take a cut, or threaten to tell Brynjolf; as Guild Master you can demand a share or order her to forget it.
Dragonborn (DLC): On Solstheim you can learn that Sapphire is the daughter of Delvin Mallory‘s brother Glover. After helping Glover, his basement holds a letter for her. Deliver it and she rewards you with an Exquisite Sapphire.
She also has a few lines during Under New Management.
Personality & relationships
Press her about her anger and she eventually tells you her story: she grew up dirt-poor on a pig farm, bandits killed the people she called family and carried her off, and after earning their trust she killed them in their sleep. According to the official guide, she spent time with the Dark Brotherhood before Brynjolf recruited her. Vipir the Fleet keeps flirting with her and keeps getting shot down, hard.
Good to know
A note in the cistern tells guild members to keep an eye on Sapphire, which fits her habit of private side jobs.
