Elves Ear

Dried herb bundles hanging in Skyrim's kitchens – Restore Magicka and Fortify Marksman.

Elves Ear gets its name from leaves shaped like a pointed elven ear. You’ll never see it growing – it only appears as dried bunches hanging above cooking pots and in homes, even though no recipe uses it. For alchemists it’s a handy mix of Restore Magicka, Fortify Marksman and Resist Fire.

Tips and trivia

Even with Hearthfire you can’t plant it in a garden, since there’s no live plant. Its Resist Fire lasts only half as long as usual.

Where to find it

  • Hanging bunches in homes and kitchens. Faendal's house in Riverwood has four.
  • Four hang from the roof of the Jorrvaskr living quarters, and you'll find more throughout Dragonsreach.
  • At least four in Alva's house in Morthal, a few at the back entrance of Cracked Tusk Keep, and a bunch in Helgen Keep.
  • Alchemist shops, apothecary's satchels and hostile mages; Falmer very rarely carry one.
