The Retching Netch is the one and only inn in Raven Rock – and, for that matter, on all of Solstheim. Added with the Dragonborn expansion, it stands across from Glover Mallory’s forge and is owned by Geldis Sadri. If you need a bed, a drink, a mercenary or just somewhere warm to hide from the ash, this is the place – and the guards swear the Sujamma is worth every coin.
What you’ll find
- Geldis Sadri behind the counter, renting rooms for 10 gold a night.
- Teldryn Sero on the ground floor, ready to follow you for 500 gold.
- Mogrul and his bodyguard Slitter, who hang out here when they’re not browsing the market.
- Drovas Relvi working at the inn – at least until Reluctant Steward is done.
- Later possible regulars: Niyya, if she survives Old Friends, and Ralis Sedarys, if he survives Unearthed.
- Barrels of tomatoes and carrots for the self-catering adventurer.
Quests
- Feeding the Addiction
- It’s All In The Taste
- Pain in the Necklace
- Served Cold
- Deathbrand – a copy of the book Deathbrand sits on a shelf in a bedroom in the north wing; reading it starts the treasure hunt that ends at Gyldenhul Barrow.
Notable items
- The book Deathbrand (quest starter), north wing bedroom.
Tips
Make this your first stop after stepping off the boat: you can rent a room, recruit Teldryn and grab the Deathbrand book in a single visit. Teldryn’s fee is steep for a fresh arrival, but a sword-arm for hire is worth a lot on an island this hostile. If Mogrul is in, remember he’s a money lender with a bodyguard – not someone to owe coin to without a plan.
Good to know
Geldis named the place after something he saw years ago: a drunk regular, singing and stumbling near the docks, threw his bottle of Sujamma at an approaching netch. The bottle smashed on its back, the netch got tipsy – and then it threw up. Fans have noted a resemblance to a similar boozy tall tale in the film Twister.
