Valga Vinicia is an Imperial bartender and the owner of Dead Man’s Drink, the inn in Falkreath. Like most businesses in town, the place has a cheerfully morbid name, and Valga runs it with the confidence of someone who is sure that nothing happens in Falkreath without her hearing about it first.
Where to find them
She works behind the bar at Dead Man’s Drink, chatting with regulars and handing out drinks. If you’re new in town and want to know who’s who, she’s your woman.
Quests
Valga can be one of the people kidnapped in the rescue-mission jobs handed out by the Companions, so don’t be surprised if you’re sent off to bring her home.
Services
As the innkeeper she sells food and drink and rents out a room. Keep your hands to yourself, though: steal from her inn and she’ll pay some hired thugs to come and have a word with you.
Personality & relationships
Valga loves gossip and practically asks you to bring her any juicy rumours you pick up. She also has a surprisingly flexible moral compass. If you kill Bolund, brother of Solaf of Gray Pine Goods, she sends you a letter saying she knows it was you, promising to keep quiet and adding that nobody will miss him. Bump off Solaf afterwards and you’ll get the same friendly note about him.
Her barmaid Narri keeps suggesting they hire Tekla as well, and Valga sighs that she’d love to pay them both if only she could afford it. She’s fond of Tekla and gently warns her not to put up with too much from her employer Dengeir. With the alchemist Zaria she trades dark jokes about the war – Valga worries there’ll soon be nobody left to drink, while Zaria reckons she’ll have plenty of veterans for customers.
Valga herself came north to get away from the fighting in Cyrodiil, only to find war catching up with her in Skyrim. She also wouldn’t mind a few more sunny days in her gloomy town.
Good to know
Ask her where to learn magic and she points you to the College of Winterhold, noting that Skyrim’s folk aren’t exactly fans of spellcasting.
