Sayma is a Redguard merchant who owns Bits and Pieces, the general goods store in Solitude. She’s the friendly face behind the counter, the wife of the blacksmith Beirand and the mother of young Kayd – and she’ll proudly tell you the shop stocks everything you could ever want, even if she admits that’s really her husband’s sales pitch.
Where to find them
She spends her working day inside Bits and Pieces. Kayd often hangs around the shop too, sitting by the door or running off to play with the other children in town.
Services
Sayma is a general goods merchant, so she’s a handy stop for offloading loot and picking up the odds and ends an adventurer burns through.
Personality & relationships
Family comes first for Sayma. She has flatly refused to let Beirand sign up for the Imperial war effort against the Stormcloaks because she thinks it’s far too dangerous – though she grumbles that she hardly sees him anyway, since he’s buried in army orders at the Castle Dour forge. If you look like trouble in a good way, she may say you have the same fire in your eyes as her Beirand.
She skipped Roggvir‘s execution and thinks it was an ugly business. She’s also surprisingly blunt about the late High King Torygg: in her view he wasn’t much of a king, mostly known for long, rambling speeches in praise of the Empire.
Good to know
Sayma sometimes tells you to leave even though the shop is open. It tends to happen when other customers, such as Gisli or Irnskar Ironhand, are in the store – just come back a little later.
