Styrr is an old Nord priest of Arkay and the keeper of the Hall of the Dead in Solitude. He has looked after the place his entire life – his mother and father served as Arkay’s priest and priestess before him – and he believes he was put there to guard it against the darkness that seems to cling to the city.
Where to find them
In and around the Hall of the Dead, which is connected to the Temple of the Divines.
Quests
The Wolf Queen Awakened: after Falk Firebeard sends you his way, Styrr explains that the spirit of Potema Septim – the infamous Wolf Queen and necromancer – has retreated to her old catacombs beneath the Temple of the Divines, where one of her servants recently broke through a wall. Because you were present at her summoning, you share a connection with her, so yes, you’re going in alone.
He gives you a key to the catacombs and the Turn Undead spell to deal with her minions. Your job is to find Potema’s remains, most likely just a skeleton, and bring them back so Styrr can sanctify them in Arkay’s name.
Personality & relationships
Styrr is gentle and cheerful, greeting visitors with blessings from Arkay, but he’s also a bit of a doom-sayer about his home town. He lists the Wolf Queen, the mad Emperor Pelagius, the death of High King Torygg and now public executions as proof that darkness is drawn to Solitude. He talked Captain Aldis into giving the executed Roggvir a proper Nord burial, as local custom demands.
He’s also something of a Potema expert. He calls her evil but brilliant, and points out that if she were alive today she’d be the last of the Septim line – and by rights, Empress.
Good to know
The game files list his race as “Elder” rather than Nord, but his name and background make it pretty clear he’s a Nord.
