Samuel is an Imperial boy living at Honorhall Orphanage in Riften. He has never known anything else: his mother worked at the orphanage and died giving birth to him, and nobody knows what became of his father. Having been there the longest, he has become a sort of ringleader for the other children.
Where to find them
Samuel lives at the orphanage with Runa Fair-Shield, Hroar and Francois Beaufort. He claims he sneaks out into the streets around noon each day while Grelod the Kind is busy in her room – a boy has to earn a living, after all.
Quests
Samuel is the one most eager to gossip about Aventus Aretino, who escaped to Windhelm and is said to be performing the Black Sacrament to summon the Dark Brotherhood against Grelod. If Grelod dies, Samuel celebrates along with the rest of the kids.
Adoption (Hearthfire)
With Hearthfire, Samuel can be adopted, but only once Grelod is gone (she forbids adoptions) and your home has the right furniture for a child.
Personality & relationships
Samuel acts tough and a bit cynical, telling visitors they’re wasting their time looking to adopt. Underneath, he admits that Constance Michel and the others are nice enough but what he really wants is a proper family. After Grelod’s death he even grudgingly appreciates how protective Constance is of the children.
