Herluin Lothaire is a Breton alchemy merchant who deals potions, poisons and hard-to-find ingredients in the Ragged Flagon, the Thieves Guild hangout beneath Riften. He has a weakness for poison puns, and he never gets tired of them, even if you do.
Where to find them
He isn’t there from the start. Herluin moves in after you complete the Guild’s second special job, which spreads its influence into another hold. Which job that is depends on how much work you’ve done in each hold. His shop sits in an alcove just north of the Ratway entrance, next to Syndus, Arnskar Ember-Master and Vanryth Gatharian.
Services
- One of the bigger potion selections of any merchant in the game.
- Rare ingredients such as Daedra hearts, fire salts and void salts, and he seems to stock Daedra hearts more often than most alchemists.
- More recipes than most traders.
- Daggers and soul gems round out his stock.
- A working alchemy lab inside his shop.
Personality & relationships
Herluin pitches himself as your one-stop poison shop, ready with a toxin for every special occasion, and he laughs at his own ‘name your poison’ joke every single time. Funnily enough, he actually carries more potions than poisons.
Good to know
- You can’t invest in his shop with the Investor perk from the Speech tree.
