Ingun Black-Briar is a Nord from Riften’s richest and most feared family, though she has little interest in the family business. She spends her days as an apprentice at Elgrim’s Elixirs in Riften, learning alchemy under Elgrim. She is far more courteous than the rest of the Black-Briars – right up until she starts describing what her potions do to the test animals.
Where to find them
Look for her at Elgrim’s Elixirs, where she spends nearly the whole day practising. She only heads back to the family home to eat and sleep.
Quests
Few and Far Between – Ingun’s mistakes have burned through precious ingredients, and she wants replacements: twenty each of Nirnroot, Nightshade and Deathbell. She pays 750 gold for the lot. Once you’re done, she hands over the key to her supply chest in the back room of the shop, which she refills with her creations every few days.
Personality & relationships
Ingun finds alchemy thrilling for grim reasons: the same world that gives life also provides countless ways to end it, and watching a body fail fascinates her. She looks down on her family for wasting its wealth on schemes and feels destined for darker work, if only her mother would allow it. Maven Black-Briar, for her part, makes it clear that Ingun’s future lies wherever Maven decides. Her brother is Sibbi Black-Briar.
Elgrim calls her a natural, yet keeps handing her beginner formulas she considers beneath her, and he was furious when she spoiled his whole stock of Troll Fat. His wife Hafjorg is uneasy about her animal experiments. Mjoll the Lioness, no friend of the Black-Briars, simply thinks she’s a strange girl.
Good to know
The family tree is a bit tangled: Ingun calls Maven her mother, but the game’s files list Maven as her grandmother and Hemming Black-Briar as her father.
