Louis Letrush is a Breton you’ll meet in The Bee and Barb in Riften. He’s a man with a deal on the table and a horse-shaped hole in his plans. He comes with a job that sounds simple and turns messy fast, mostly because it involves the Black-Briars.

He sits in The Bee and Barb when you first visit. After his quest wraps up, he is usually encountered only once more, out on the roads.
Quests
Promises to Keep – Louis asks you to steal Frost, the horse belonging to Sibbi Black-Briar, and bring it to him. The whole deal was arranged between Louis and Sibbi himself. How it ends is up to you:
- Deliver Frost, and later you may stumble on Louis being attacked by hired thugs on the road, with a message that Maven Black-Briar sends her regards.
- Tell Maven about the plan and the same ambush happens; save Louis from the thug and he’ll attack you, convinced you’re the reason his life fell apart.
- Keep Frost for yourself and Louis sends a thug after you instead.
Personality & relationships
Louis is all business and no loyalty – he’ll happily profit from a Black-Briar horse and is quick to blame you when things go wrong. He is essential, so you can’t simply solve the problem with a sword in the inn.
Good to know
If you keep Frost, Louis sets off for the Whiterun Stables on foot, and you can tail him the whole way as he loots dead animals and pauses to admire the view. Some players later find copies of him wandering near the stables, which is more annoying than harmful.
