Cairine is a Breton woman living in The Warrens, the cramped workers’ quarters of Markarth. Dressed in ragged robes and boots with nothing but an iron dagger to her name, she doesn’t even have a room of her own.
Where to find them
Sitting on the floor of The Warrens, clutching her ribs. She never claims a bed, even when one frees up.
Quests
- The Fishing Job – she can be picked as the mark for this Thieves Guild radiant job, and possibly other radiant quests.
- New Allegiances (Dawnguard) – Vingalmo of the Volkihar Clan may ask you to turn her into a vampire for his political schemes. Afterwards she’s a bit confused and needs a lie-down – and later on her lines take a decidedly hungry, sinister turn.
Personality & relationships
Cairine seems to be suffering from some lasting illness; by her own account, everyone in the Warrens has either Rattles or Ataxia. You can’t cure whatever she has.
Good to know
- If you’re asked to steal a gem from her, the pickpocket chance is stuck at 0%.
- She sometimes needs to be “killed” twice before she actually dies.
- Her sitting animation can stop you from feeding on her during New Allegiances.
